Sloan was born into a poor Irish family shortly after they immigrated into the US. His mother died during the birth of his younger brother when he was 9, and his father shortly after. He has had to fight for everything he has, and has lived according to the principal that "if he can take it, he must deserve it". He lived his life from fight to fight, slipping in and out of jail, until he heard of the CFA and the prizes and fame associated with it. He plans to use the spoils of his victory to lift him and his brother out of the ghettos and gutters he's lived in.
Sloan is generally passive in his interactions with other people, but he will never back down from a fight. He is by no means a gracious winner, and his remarkable skill at kick boxing gives him plenty of chances to humiliate his downed opponents.
